I have Hashimoto's thyroidiitis and adrenal fatigue diagnosed per blood and saliva tests. I have been taking hormones for 7 years, and am having a tuff time finding continuity of care let alone felling good on a consistent basis.:dizzy: :confused:

My doc, suggested I raise my thyroid dose. I am also taking a total of 22.5 mg mix of hydrocortisone and cortef per day.

I tried raising my thyroid med. The first day, I felt great. The next day it was the beginning of a road down hill. Every time I took the increased thyroid, I would feel very cold, thirsty and weak. Also, my blood pressure has dropped to 87/57. I also began to feel nauseous, vomiting. I cannot handle warm or hot weather, without getting very weak and feeling very warm and thirsty. The water I drink seems to go right through me. I have lost muscle strength and tone and have trouble now with bladder control. I also take about 7mg of DHEA. I used to take 25 mg, and felt much stronger. However, after raising my thyroid, my dhea level went to 3 x the normal limits and I felt very sick. My doc now says, it is ok for my present dhea levels to be low normal, because it will come up with increase in thyroid meds. However, I am not able to take anymore presently, and feel sick. I feel weak and cannot exercise. When I walk down the street I feel tired and out of breath, and muscles ache.
I am very concerned. I don't know what to do or where to turn. My pcp doesen't want to handle this stuff, and so, she doesn't. The doc that precribed the meds and dx'ed me, is unwilling to talk to my pcp when she has called in an attempt to learn more about my condition. He is also unwilling to return calls when I am ill to my pcp or me, unless I pay over $200. No one in his office will answer any questions. Meanwhile, I am sick. I am told most traditional doc endo's do not subscribe to dhea or adrenal fatigue. I am scared to death. I don't know where to turn to help. My body had trouble converting T4 to T3 and my doc acts like he is mentally out of it of late. PLEASE HELP ME! I DON'T WANT TO GET WORSE.

Maybe you could back down on your thyroid meds and ask the dr to give you a trial run of cytomel "t3" and see if this makes a difference.. I hope you get to feeling better soon,, Take care

I am already on cytomel. It is when I increased the cytomel and kept my other thyroid meds the same, when I noticed the reaction. I increased the cytomel and felt very cold, nauseous, thirsty, weak, sensitive to the warm weather, and my blood pressure took a nose dive. Do you think it might have something to do with my adrenals?

binks, have you looked on the Lyme Disease board. Lyme causes, thyroid and adrenal problems, and all the other symptoms that you described, seven years and no relief, I would definately start looking at what is causing the thyroid and adrenal problems, and GET A NEW ENDO! He sounds like a real jerk!:blob_fire I Have Lyme and secondary AI with hypothyroidism, and so do several other people on the lyme board. I have your symptoms and so do they, I also have had the low bloodpressure like that, it happens when I feel really bad, and I get so cold nothing warms my up. How old are you --not that that makes any difference. I was just wondering if any of this is age related. I would consider (if you have good insurance) going to the mayo clinic in Minnisota or Florida. This is not anyway way for you to live. Life is too short!! Saying this--I was just diagnosed with adrenal fatigue and the Dr. put me on 5mlgs. of hydrocortisone everyday and DHEA-PROG.. I thought I was feeling better and today I am having all of your symtoms!!I feel for you-as I can't even do light housework. I am freezing and I am sweating at the same time. I am weak and my muscles ache. I have an awful taste in my mouth and on and on. Well-you are in my prayers! boomer

Binks have you gotten any help? You do need to go to a Dr that will help you, this isn't right and you don't have to live like this. That is how I felt before my Addison's diagnosis. Maybe you need some Florinef (sp) to help you keep up your BP. Those feelings can be from being to low which you are too. I don't know where you live but I went to Mayo in Mn and they are wonderful there! Please go to a new Dr!

May I ask you how long you have taken DHEA? How much you take a day? Where you buy it? If you have noticed any side effects? I have Addisons and my Dr. recommended my taking it, I was/am worried about taking it because I thought it was more of a male hormone supplement than female. Now I am finding out that isn't necessarily true. I would be very interested in what you have to say.

I have been taking dhea for several years at different doses. The doses usually range from 5mg to 25 or 50mg. You can buy the supplement at health food stores, compounding pharmacies or your doctor's office, if they sell it.
