I feel like I'm the only one sufferring from the things I'm going to mention, so I'm glad I found this site to see others suffer from this too, and how they cope. Recently, for about 1 month or so, I've been feeling very faint and lightheaded when I stand on my feet for as little as 15 min. If I'm at home, I realized I can stand for 30 min (feel a little tired by the end of it...but nothing major). But in shops and stuff, I feel all wobbly, spacey and lightheaded even if I stand for as little as 5 min. My fear is fainting or feeling so weak that I won't be able to get back to my car. I do feel more tired than usual nowdays, and part of my lightheadedness may also be related to my slightly low ferritin (iron stores). Other than this, the doc says everything else looks healthy (like my blood pressure, heart, sugar etc.). I'm only 21, and besides allergies and some hormonal imbalance (PCOS), don't have other disorders and have never had any surgeries or been in any accidents. Anyone else got these symptoms or fear/ weakness when standing on your feet? What do you do to help yourself? Thanks for listening.
Sincerely,
Hope

Low blood pressure can cause those symptoms. How is your BP? Are you very thin? Drink enough water?

I can relate - although I've been anxiety free for several years now, this used to happen to me ALL the time. Which made it very difficult to work where I had to stand before a group and speak...ugh!!! And - shopping was always difficult. I would be fine while shopping, but I'd lose it when it was time to stand in line to pay. Many times at the grocery store I thought I would just leave the groceries and run out the door for fear of fainting in line. It was a truly terrible feeling. I did some therapy and every drug you can imagine as I fought this battle for approx 10 years. But, since the birth of my child nearly 3 years ago (I'm prego with #2) and changing jobs (high stress to low stress) and MOST IMPORTANTLY - quitting smoking, I have been anxiety free. I still have the occassionaly stuff, but I don't every freak out about it anymore. I feel truly blessed to be free from the demon. I can truly empathize with what you are going though. Is there anything in your life that may be adding to your stress and anxiety? Do you smoke, drink, high stress job, etc.?? I would try giving something up for a while and see if it helps.
I hope you feel betters soon. But, take if from me, there IS life after anxiety.

My BP is fine (110/70), and I'm definitely not thin (5'4" and 135 lbs). I do drink a lot of water, and am not on any meds except regular vitamins and one iron tablet, along with the ocassional antihistamine like Reactine. I'm not on any anxiety meds. I tried going to the mall today, and it was not a good experience. After about 15 min, I started to feel unreal, unbalanced and lightheaded-ish. My mom kept telling me "its only psychological...just control it...you're the most frustrating person to go shopping with"...so you can see that my family doesn't really know what to do with me. I feel like such a loser, that I can't control my mind....makes ppl think that I'm weak. I mean there are people with physical problems walking around the mall, and I can't walk around because of a mental problem. Anyway...thanks for all the kind words. If i figure something out, I'll let you all know.

the same thing happens to me..... you sound just like me even the part about your family reacting to it.... everyone kept sating it was anxiety until a cardiologist did a tilt table test and was diagnosed with POTS.... which you show similar symptoms... you may want to ask your doc
do you feel dizzy when sitting?

I had the same thing the second time around with anxiety. I think mine was attributed to hormones, too. I called mine "jelly legs." It took a while for me to figure out that, in fact, it was just anxiety. I had to take Klonopin for a short while until I came back to reality...:):):)

Hey all!
I've thought about POTS. Usually feel okayish when I'm sitting. Can't say what I feel is a dizzy feeling. Its more like an unreal, lightheaded and faint feeling. I feel tired too. I tried standing on my feet in the comfort of my home, and did it for 1/2hour (and then I got borred). Didn't feel too bad after it...my legs felt tired though, and sort of lightheaded. When I go to shops though, I can't even stand up for 5 min without freaking out. I'm going to go to the doc asking for tilt table test, and ask abuot anxiety too, and possibly sugar problems. I hate feeling this sick!
About POTS, I think many websites defined it as more than a 30bpm increase in heart rate from the supine to the standing position, within 10 min. I measured my heart rate, and mine barely increases when I go from lying down to standing. What do you exactly feel with POTS? and when do you feel it? Is it a sudden dizziness? Or a general feeling of lightheadedness as soon as you start standing? Thanks for all your support and all the information.
Sincerely,
Hope

Hey after reading your post i have nearly exactly the same symptoms. Mine came on suddenly when i was walking around overseas around 5 months ago and have never really left. I feel normal when i wake up in the morning but as soon as i stand up i have this strange feeling come over me. Unable to stand still and even sitting upright at the computer or a desk is a challenge. I can feel my body moving, hard surfaces like the ground moving around me, sometimes a weird pressure pushing me down and my legs feel kinda weak and 'unattatched' oh and i get this strange feeling in my head. The feeling definately gets worse when i try to go for a lond walk outside or do the shopping etc. Have had all sorts of blood tests and head scans and nothing major shows up. Doctors seem to think that it is some physical symtoms causing any anxiety rather then the other way around.
Basically i have no idea....anxiety seems weird to me that it would come on for no reason at all in a person with no social or mental issues....before all this occured i was always out and about with people. Keep me updated how you are going!!!

I have the same issues as well. There is nothing worse than feeling that way and having to go into a 100 degree manhattan subway smashed next to 1000 people. BUT , In all the times ive had it ive never fell, passed out or anything like that. The best way to beat it is to not think about it but we all know thats almost impossible when anxiety is with you.
