hey i was just wondering what everyones best mile run times are? i'm 6 foot 2,170 pounds and last time i ran a mile i was able to do it in 5:50 after only training for 3 days because i supposedly have an endurance body.also how many laps around a big track and field track would a mile be? cause when our school did it we had to do it around the school.

thanx in advance $hane...

heh, it looks like you're saying 6 feet tall & weigh 2,170 pounds the way you have it written. I know you meant 6ft. 2 in. but thought it rather funny. =p heheh, I think they would have to carry someone that big around in one of those trucks they use in the stripping pits.

Anyway, if I remember correctly, I think its 4 times around the track for every mile.

Almost forgot to add: I'm not sure what my best mile was(probably about 5:30) but when I was in the Army, I did a 2 mile run on the PT test in 12:30. Usually my first mile was always the fastest.

If I had to guess, since I can't remember the last time I ran a mile as fast as I could, I'd probably say around 5:50. I'm 6' 175lbs.

I ran 2 miles with a 3:00 break in just over 6 minutes each a few weeks ago. While I could have run the first one faster, I would have been nigh on death when I finished.

hello CAPiTUH,
What's your fitness test for? Just curious http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/smile.gif I was in Cross Country and track throught highschool. I ran a 17:29 three mille my sophmore year. I went out for football the last 2 years of h.s... big mistake.. anyways, for you 1.5 mile run.
Since your not into the whole running scene, i would build up a base first. To build up your base, you should go for longer runs: 3-5 mile runs. They do not have to be fast at first at first. Try to do this at least 4 times a week. I would do this for about a month if you have the time. Than shorten the distance and run faster. Go for like 1.5 - 3 mile runs and get a workout. Keep track of your mile times.. try to keep them low. What i would do is keep your long distance runs for mon/fri and do the shorter faster ones on the inbetween days... Once you have done this for a while, You should notice that your cardio will be in great shape. If you do not have the time or energy to do a workout program like this, than just going on 3 mile runs at least 4 times a week would work.. but if you do a workout program, you'll fly! Also, when you run, try to breath in and out on the same leg... meaning every step, or every second step you take with you right leg, either breath in, or breath out.... Do it all on that leg... You can use your left leg if you want.. this will help control your breathing... it may seem wierd at first, but it will work to slow down your breathing.... I wish you luck~ You'll have to let me know how your runnning goes.. Also, a tip for your 1.5 mile run... Just dont go out to fast.. you can always speed up... http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/smile.gif
