I have a 9 year old son with sleep apnea. He is not overweight but has terrible problems breathing at night. My husband also has sleep apnea which is relieved with a wedge pillow. However, my son can sleep better in a recliner but he still has some trouble breathing. Is there a surgery or something that can solve this problem. The less invasive the better.

Tonsillectomy and Adnoidectomy are the only recommended surgeries before the age of eighteen. Is you son not on a CPAP? My four year old is and he sleeps beautifully throught the night now. He has also had the T&A and still has severe sleep apnea do to an elongated pallet and reactive airway.

A CPAP can treat sleep apnea with no surgery whatsoever.

Sincerely,
MG
