I have been diagnosed with hep c gyno type 1a and I am not sure if I want to do the treatment or not. It is kind of like chemo from what I have read and heard. I have not been drinking or smoking for about 2 months now and I have been taking vitamins and milk thistle. I will be getting the results of my biopsy soon. The blood test results are already in and they show my levels in the 200 - 300 range.I have no sign of cancer or cirrhosis. I have considered using the mannatech products but again I am not sure. Any suggestions? I am in my 50's and feel very healthy.

I was too.Didn't even know I had it(no symptoms)...few years ago. Got all worried...was going to start treatment. After reading and researching I realized that there is a good chance of coming out of the treatment much much worse than when you started. So because I have no symtons, feel just fine, have great physicals.......I decided I will pass on the treatment. I think it would ruin my life.
Maybe they will come up with something better one day

I too felt fine-I found out I had it when I went to give blood and the Red Cross notified me.
After much thought I decided to go with the treatment-Pegasus and Ribavirin for 6 months.
It really sucks (July 7 cannot come soon enough) but now I have NO viral load and it will be over soon.
My worries of cancer or cirrhosis are gone.
I talked to people who had gone through the treatment and they helped convince me to go ahead-including one friend whose husband also had it and decided not to do the treatment-he unfortunately has passed away.
IMHO it is worth it for the results.

My situation was much like yours- 51 years old - good health(I thought)- got a physical and there it was,Hep C, type 1a. I did not want to go on treatment, but was told I had stage 3 fibrosis- next stage is cirrhosis. Decided to go on treatment figuring it was now on never. I've been on treatment 12 weeks now - it is not fun, but tolerable. After 7 weeks my viral load had dropped from 20 million to less than 2000. Haven't missed any work but weekends are no fun. I would not have opted for treatment had there been little or no liver damage. I am relived to be 1/4 way through especially since the treatment seems to be working. Good luck.

Treatments are hard but tolerable and everyone reacts different. They were rough after a build up of them for me. They were ok at first for me and then built up. Good luck to all of you. It is just hard in an unexplainable way.....you almost can't put it in to words. I could function and was alright most of the time actually but now off of them I realize how ran down I was. This too shall pass.

I was recently diagnosed myself, and just had my liver biopsy. I have inflammation and fibrosous. I'm going to go ahead with treatment to get it over and done with, and turn this page in my life.
