Today I went for my follow-up appointment after my laser surgery May 9. The oncologist said that everything is healing well. He said that I'll return in three months for another Pap and in six months for another colposcopy to check to be sure there's no return of the cancerous cells.
I also asked him about the almost constant pain I've had in my lower left side and I told him that a year ago, a transvaginal ultrasound showed a 6-cm complex cyst on my left ovary, but that it was never followed up on. He said it should have been, so now I'm scheduled for an ultrasound this Friday for that. He was a bit concerned when he heard about the bowel problems I've had for the last year (constant diarrhea/constipation) and the extreme fatigue which I've been chalking up to the probable multiple sclerosis I've been diagnosed with.
So, though on the one hand, the vaginal carcinoma in situ has been taken care of (hopefully permanently), now I have something else to worry about!
I have a couple of questions for which I can't seem to find answers to in any of my research. I really hope maybe you ladies can help me. Could vaginal cancer spread to the ovaries? Could cancer from one ovary spread to the other one? (I've started having the same pain that's on my left side on my right side lately.) Also, a recent ultrasound showed a tumor in my left kidney. There's been no follow-up on that yet. Could that be related too? (The report said it could possibly be an angiomyolipoma - a benign tumor made up of blood vessels, muscle and fat cells. But the report said more evaluation was necessary. I'm in the process of switching doctors, so haven't had any evaluation for it yet.)
Thanks and hugs,
Lisa
