Has anyone here ever been to a support group for OCD? I was just wondering what they are like. What kind of things are discussed and does anyone have any success stories about S/G. Also, Do a lot of people attend, and has anyone met any good friends at these meetings? It would be really great talk with someone for once that actually goes through what I go through with the OCD. I'm 25 and it seems that alot of people with OCD tend to be quite a bit older when they finally open up about having the disorder.

I hope that no one minds, but I would like to bump my thread. I haven't gotten any replies and I know that someone on here has been to a support group. Thanks!

There is a monthly support group in San Francisco that I sometimes attend when I'm in town. It is quite informal, and different topics are discussed. usually people tell about themselves first and then some points of discussion are chosen for the second part of the meeting.
Attendence varies a lot, there have been only four or five people, other times more than 10.

Hi Male,
I am thinking about joining a support group for OCD too. I have never done that before. You should check the ads in a newspaper or check online for any OCD support groups in your area. Also you can ask your Psychiatrist or Psychologist about it too. That's what I would do. I think that talking to somebody who understands and is going through the same thing that you're going through really does help.
I hope that this post is helpful.
