Do you mean genotype 3. If so it is very treatable with high rate of success.
Treatment is no fun but usually tolerable and usually last 6 months.

I am gen 3 and am thirty years old. I just went through treatments and they were no fun but tolerable to an extent. Put it this way I never missed a day of work and took care of a two year old and a house. Maybe not as good as normal and much more tired but I got through it. So far I responded great to the tx and am waiting for my two month off treatment appointment. The sucess rates are very good with type three or gen three....it is actually a strain of hep c found here in the us. It usually determines the response to the treatments and how long you will have to do them not including the shape your liver is in. This a very slow acting and growing virus. Good luck to your friend.

thank you everyone and yes, i meant genotype 3.

jessy, good to know you were able to juggle all your responsibilities and not miss a day of work. friend is most worried about feeling sick/flu like symptoms and going to work during the process.

thankfully, liver shows no signs of damage or scaring. doctors are very confused by that. he's not in a high risk category. so very baffling.

did you have to go on anti-depression medication before treatment started ?
