Hello, everyone,

I haven't posted for a bit (converted from Dialup to DSL, with problems connecting).

I uppsed dosage of Luvox from 75 to 100 under a week ago. Since then, headache and fatigue, fatigue, just sooo tired. I know these can be side-effects; does anyone have the experience of them, and do they go way with continued treatment?

Thanks very much!

Seaturtle, I am going to see my doctor next week about medication. I tried SSRI's in the past with horrific side effects. Have your OCD symptoms improved with the Luvox? I can handle being tired, but I am really scared of any other side effects. But if it works, I'm willing to give it a shot.

Hello,,
I was on Paxil for a brief time ( a no-go, left me numb and gaining enormous weight fast). Then Prozac for many years - could tolerate that OK at low dose, but no higher than 20. It helped enormously w/agoraphobia, but nothing for OCD.
Luvox: YES! It has helped so much. The intrusive thoughts are practically down to nothing, I am much less compulsive and tortured, don't get suicidal ideation or those horrible deep depressions.
I am also on Lamictal, and this has worked like a wonder drug for me.
Almost no side-effects, which is unsual for me. I tried all the other SSRI's, and could tolerate none of them.
I think it's worth a try, maybe both of those, if you doc will allow. I think taking mood stabilizer helps a lot with SSRI's.
I hope this helps you.

Luvox is the golden drug for alot of people's OCd. It has much less side effects than any of its Compeititors like Prozac, Zoloft and Paxil.

Luvox is a bit more Sedating than the other SSRI but for me that is GOOD THING!!!!!!! The sexual side effects are Mild to moderate while the other drugs pretty much left me totally impotent.

Luvox is superb

I am on luvox - 150 mg... and I am ALWAYS tired... and I know it is from the meds b/c I had blood tests and everything else to rule out other diesease... when I first started Luvox, 10 years ago, I got a lot of black and blues - easily bruised basically, but over time, that symptom went away... I would say tiredness is the biggest.. I get drowsy like i just took a sudafed.. and I have to sleep.. but if you exercise that helps.

so nervous about switching to prozac - doctor recommends that while pregnant rather than luvox.... any advice?

Give prozac a shot.. IT really is a well made drug that can greatly dimish the OCD demons.
however, my stomach never agreed with Prozac. I constantly had Severe GI problems and was forced to change meds.
The GI problems in my case are RARE from prozac but the Drug does work well.

I went to my psychiatrist today and he prescribed me Luvox. At first he suggested Zoloft, but I mentioned that I had heard Luvox was good for OCD and he agreed. So anyway, I start it tonight at a very low dose (25 mg) because I have been sensitive to SSRIs in the past. I am very nervous about it, though. I hope it works. Wish me luck!

good luck - and let us know how it goes, too!
How were you sensitive to other SSRIs? I tried Zoloft recently, and it made my anxiety and panic triple. I also tried Paxil years ago, and it made me pretty jittery. Kind of makes me think SSRIs don't work for me.

Hi,

Prozac made me jittery, helped w/agoraphobia and panic attacks, but not with anxiety.
Paxil drugged me, but that's just me.
Luvox is the only one that I've really been comfortable on, in combination with Lamictal. It hink the Lamictal is half of the improvement.
But I was on PRozac for many years, just because being on it was better than being off it (by far), despite the side-effects.
I always get scared at beginning a new med, too, but at least for me, Luvox is easy. I started very low, too, and worked my way up to 100, all I can tolerate, but enough to help.
Give it shot - worst that can happen is side-effects, and they will pass, too.
Best luck!

I tried Paxil 7 years ago and I had the worst panic attack ever after the first increase in dose (I think I went from 10-20 mg). Anyway, it was horrible because at the time my main problem was panic attacks. Then I was on Serzone and it gave me a really flushed feeling-almost like I was sunburned-especially on my face, hands, and feet, and it made my OCD come out in full force. My doctor told me that it was my anxiety causing these side effects, but I didn't stick with them long enough to find out because I was so horrified. I really hope this works, but I chickened out tonight and didn't take the Luvox because my husband and I had an argument (I asked him to read the side effects of the med and watch me for any signs because I am a hypochondriac and will feel all the side effects if I read them), but he told me that I am making him go crazy. I flipped out after and called my mom (again) hysterical that I can't take ths anymore and I need to be hospitalized. Anyway, I didn't think this would be the best night to start a new medication, so I took a Xanax to calm down. Again, thanks for listening.
