Hi there. I was wondering if my symptoms sound like they could be related to cervical cancer or something else??? After the last time I had intercourse with my husband I was passing brown bloody discharge for 3 days. not heavy, but more like spotting. We've been in a monogamus(sp?) relationship for 16 years. I also have pelvic discomfort I would catagorize it as a steady dull ache, sometimes shifts sides, which is almost chronic. I have had a history of cervical errosion in the past, but only caused pain with intercourse-no discharge. My last pap 2 yrs ago was fine- but I have a hard time going in because I get so embarrassed. Does this sound like it could be anything-or am I being paranoid? Thank you.

I'd go in for an exam and a pap, just so you don't have to wonder. There is nothing to be embarassed about. This is your doctor's job, he or she chose this job...and they want you to take care of yourself by telling them everything that is happening with you. I waited three years between paps and really wish i did not wait so long because now that I have a problem, I have less information than I would have if I had gone in yearly. Just call and say you want to schedule your yearly, and when the doctor asks you how you have been, you can say, well I have been having this pain and some bleeding. Then he will ask you when, and that's when you can say, "after sex." or however you want to put it...the point being, if he asks it will perhaps feel less embarassing.

Good luck. I am sure you are fine, but those yearly paps are the best thing ever.
