Just when I get used to the physical symptoms of anxiety,I get new ones.I have started this weird thing where my breath is suddenly taken away for a moment.I also am short of breath and slightly lightheaded. My chest used to hurt constantly and although it still hurts but not as bad,I am now able to convince myself this could be serious with the new symptoms.I keep telling myself "what if it is real and I am ill"?Do others experience the sudden feeling of your breath being taken away like on a roller coaster(which I really wouldn't know that feeling cause my anxiety is too bad to go on one). Thanks for replies.

yep, have had it many times. it comes and goes. i have had it every day for months straight before. i literally get the breath sucked out of me for a second and when its real bad it keeps me up all night. like just when i'm about to fall asleep, i gasp. sooo scary . i know for sure it is anxiety, mine has gone away, but i'm onto other things. lol

Yes I used to get a tightness building inside my throat and chest then all of a sudden a powerful gasp for breath this would sometimes be accompanied by a sort of shock or brain zap, this is how my anxiety started and even caused me to take a step backwards in work from management back to just managing a department things have and do improve b ut then I get a regression, as far as the gasps for breath are concerned they seem to have subsided along with the haed zaps just left with the palps, pins and needles and lightheadedness which I am not convinced is nothing to do with my inner ear take heart and things do improve sometimes slowly but better than nothing

I am currently going through the same thing. Two weeks ago the left side of my face was going numb for no reason, so I went to a neurologist and had a MRI of the brain done. Felt fine and now I keep getting this pressure on the top half of my chest (above my breasts) that radiates into my neck and back. I am like you, I don't want to take meds because I suffered 4 years ago and was on meds for almost 2 years before I quit cold turkey one day. I am so frustrated because I was doing SO GOOD for almost 2 years and then I got pregnant and everything started again! My son is now 9 months old and I keep thinking things will get better but more and more new symptoms keep popping up. We just got to tell ourselves we can beat this! Good luck and try not to let the "new symptoms" bother you.....we can't let this control us.
