ever experienced bad anxiety, panic upon awakening in the morning. I haven't slept more than 5-6 hours a night in over  a year. I am afarid to go to bed at night because of what I know will happen in the morning. I am on Lexapro and wonder if this may be a culprit in this matter. Anyone else with this type of problem? Would appreciate all answers. Please.

I can relate to you for the most part. When I have an OCD flare up like now and I feel like Im going crazy I get anxiety and panic attacks. Well often times I'll take something to fall asleep but I'll wake up real early in the morning and my stomach will be in knots. I feel like Im going to have a panic attack and that there's something seriously wrong with me. Sometimes when I wake up like that I really feel like I can't take another day of it and really am going crazy.

The last two weeks have been tough for me. A lot of mornings I'll wake up around 5:30ish when I dont have to be up till 7am and toss and turn with the anxiousness.

How long have you been on the lexapro? All ssri's have the potential to make you nervous in the beginning.

I have been on Lexapro 10mg. for about 5-6 months now. Don't actually think it does much of anything other then fatigue.

I have had similar experiences with several of the meds.I know that Lexapro was one of them that caused hot flashes and horrible dreams for me.I also tried Cymbalta and it was worse that the Lexapro.I jerked awake everytime I fell asleep feeling like I was having a heart attack. There is a possibility that the medicine is causing your sleep problems.I had to stop taking all of it because of severe side-effects.I am trying to learn to cope on my own.I have tried just about every med there with no luck. You should talk to your dr about switching to a different med and seeing if that helps.
