And i have not even been diagnosed. I often wonder how an inner ear problem can cause all these weird things to happen. I try not to let that thought consume me tho' because that is when i do get extremely anxious. Have you ever tried an SSRI? Also please let me know how the acupuncture comes on. I have never been before, what are you going to say to them? sheriff56 05-27-2007, 11:35 AM I think we all have spells of thinking this, I say to my Hubby, what if they are barking up the wrong tree and it's life threatening and I've had it all this time and it's too late. . . etc, so see you are not alone Maria! Jayne maria1007 05-27-2007, 02:24 PM i know, just sometimes your mind starts to work overtime! sheriff56 05-27-2007, 05:21 PM Hi Maria, as long as my mind doesn't want paying for the overtime, I'll cope, I'd be bankrupt otherwise!! The major "bad stuff" that can cause true vertigo are Multiple Sclerosis and acoustic neuroma, a tumor on the nerve that runs from the ear to the brain. The good news about those possibilities is that AN is much easier to treat nowadays and is not life threatening and can be treated with "gamma knife" surgery (non-invasive) but may cost you some hearing. MS is obviously bad news too but the good news there is that vertigo is almost never the only sign...there are usually lots of other indicators (unrelated to inner ear) as well. Bottom line: get an MRI soon if you're really worried (your GP should be able to order you one) and that should help put your mind at ease. Good luck and take care, Dan |
