View Full Version : What can cause hearing to be more noise sensitive?

Like for theater or radio volumes to be be unpleasantly loud, where the same volume was fine in the past.
It isn't like my hearing is becoming more acute, but sounds that were loud before are "blaring" now. An age thing? I have had some vertigo issues recently that I thought were inner ear related but this sound sensitivity thing has been around for quite a few months now. Anyone?

I have seen a medical issue called hyperacusis which seems to describe this. Is it catch-all term for all such problems or are there no other causes for this kind of thing? Is this an ENT issue or an Audiologist issue?
