My husband has reduced his glucose from 300 to 91-100 using diet changes, herbs and some medication. Does he still need an A1C test? Thanks!

SusanGene 05-28-2007, 02:57 PM My husband has reduced his glucose from 300 to 91-100 using diet changes, herbs and some medication. Does he still need an A1C test? Thanks! Misty800 05-28-2007, 03:58 PM Yes, an A1C is very important. I thought my diabetes was under control since my glucose was good. Had an A1C and it was 6.2. Not only that but I had protein in urine. Many things can be taking place that we do not know about. The A1C will tell a story other than our record of glucose. My doctor looked at the A1C and not my record. I asked if he wanted to see my record and he said "no, the A1C tells me enough". I have controlled diabetes via diet/exercise for 7 years and thought problems showed up in people not in control. SusanGene 05-28-2007, 05:58 PM thank you, Misty. He Must have protein in his urine since there are bubbles in the toilet. Kidney involvement I strongly suspect. He sleeps a LOT also. SG |
