CuriousMe4200 08-11-2003, 04:57 PM does anyone know what they mean by 'Basal'? Sponsor johnd 08-11-2003, 05:45 PM in reference to the calorie expenditure page? its how many calories you would burn in a given day without any exercise. IMO its way off base. According to fitday, i would be burning around 4700cals/day. The rest of the tools there are nice though. johnd CuriousMe4200 08-12-2003, 09:52 AM John, thats what i thought! So if I dont count that, but just sum up my 'lifestyle' and 'activities' would that be my calories burned throughout the day? thanks!! johnd 08-12-2003, 11:12 AM it *might* work out that way - i dont know. The best way really is to just keep track of your calories, and pay attention to the scale. If your loosing or gaining weight, adjust accordingly. Over a period of time, you should be able to figure out your daily requirement. A decent starting point is your bodyweight x 15 =calories/day. johnd mustangbuff03 08-12-2003, 12:11 PM i think naxis said it was 12x not 15x, not sure tho... |
