Hi again,
I never suspected blood sugar problems until last year when I started getting weird symptoms upon awakening..jitteriness, heart pounding sensation (not beating fast). It felt similar to after exercising and left me shaken. I would take my blood sugar in the AM and it would read in the 70's or 80's. At first, I thought it was anxiety. Since my blood sugar testing, I've noticed these same symptoms after my sugar is high and drops down. Is it possible that I am experiencing either low sugar when I am sleeping and by the time I wake up, my body is already in the process of responding to raise the levels hence the hypo symptoms with "normal readings", or could my levels be high in the middle of the night and effects be from my body producing excessive insulin. I am trying desperately to get this under control because it is sooo hard to function in the morning for over a year now and the doctors just say my sugar is fine?? Please give some suggestions...

There are lots of possibilities. But the only way to know what is happening over night is to test. Pick a night when interupted sleep won't cause a problem the next day, and set your alram clock to wake you for a test every two hours. Testing at, say, 10pm, 12:00, 2am, 4am and 6am will give you a good picture of what is going on. You will then be able to devise a suitable strategy.

Cheers,

Mark
