Hi,

i'm currently exercising and i am overweight. My weight right now is 238 lbs and i'm 5'9". I have a very slow metabolism. I was wondering if i should take shakes. If so which ones? Which one would help maximize weight loss and calorie burning?

Thanks,

Me!

Shakes will not in and of themselves help you lose weight (I'm assuming you mean protein shakes). They should be used to supplement your current diet only if you're not getting enough protein or are just looking for a quick, convenient way to get some protein. Now, getting enough protein is very important to fat loss because it will help you to keep or build your lean muscle mass which in turn will help to increase your metabolism.

Overall calorie intake and protein/fat/carb ratios are what you should be concentrating on, but to meet your protein requirements, shakes are fine, especially if you're not big on meats.

And let me add one more thing. All the energy you need is stored around your stomach right now. Try and use it all up first....

Smoothies r the healthiest things!! That's if..u have a blender that separates the juice from the bits :D. Shove tonnes of fruit into the machine...the results is the most delicious fruit juice u have EVER tasted. Nothing but fruity goodness :) :D
