Ladies...

Had my cold knife cone, ECC, and D&C on May 10th to treat my dx of AIS. I had my follow up appt today and got my results.....CLEAR margins, ECC negative and D&C negative as well! I am so happy and wanted to share my news with you all!

Of course, paps will be every 3 months from here on out for awhile...that's just part of making sure it doesn't come back....and that's just fine with me... I want to make sure it doesn't rear it ugly head again either!

Here's what's kind of strange though....my copolscopy biopsy dx'd me with AIS, but the biopsy of my CKC, etc...says it was only CIS. I'm not quite sure how that all happened, but I asked my doctor about it and she is going to call pathology and ask and let me know....weird, huh?

At any rate, you have ALL been so supportive and wonderful when it came to answering my questions and letting me vent when I needed to. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! I can only hope I can be of some comfort to those still going through the process and waiting for results. Let me know!

Tori - that is wonderful - I've been away from the boards for a bit, but remembered you and wanted to check back on your results...prayers do get answered - take care! :-)

That's great , I too got good news and I hope that the same good results are just around the corner for all you others going through all this .Nice to hear another story that shows there is light at the end of the tunel and I think we come out of this things stronger than before and life is great!

I had to reply because my situation is exactly like yours and I am interested to know what your doctor makes of the discrepency with the biopsy and the CKC! here is my long story:

I had my first ever abnormal pap in February showing ASCUS. So, I had a follow up colposcopy and biopsy. THe result of the biopsy showed Adecarcinoma in situ -- my doctor mentioned how surprised he was by this unexpected finding. He even questioned the pathologist and they verified that yes it was ACIS. So, 2 weeks later (March) I had a laser conization. Well, when the results came back from the cone the margins were "widely clear". --actually only mild squamous dysplasia -- no Adecarcinoma or even glandular abnormality! So, I went to a gynological oncologist for a second opinion because I am a bit of a health anxiety freak and needed reassurance that we got it all. Well, the gynological oncologist requested the actual pathology slides to confirm that there was ACIS. So, today I went for a follow up with the specialist and his quote was "If ACIS was present on the biopsy and not on the cone specimen then we need to make sure that there isn't any residual ACIS or dysplasia." Of course I felt my stomach drop and felt like I was going to hyperventilate . . . here we go again. So, he did a pap and a ECC and will call next week with results. He said if there is any abnormality we will proceed with a hysterectomy because that means that the CKC missed it! So, I am anxious to hear what your doctor thinks of the discrepency in findings. Also, it is sure nice to know that someone is going through the same thing as me. I look forward to hearing from you!

Pam...haven't heard from my doctor yet, but this is what it actually says on my pathology report verbatim:

***FINAL DIAGNOSIS****

-cervix(cone biopsy): -high grade squamous intraepithelial lesion compatible with squamous carcinoma-in-situ, not involving inked ecto or endocervical margin
-ECC: -benign strips of endocervical glands with no dysplasia

When I originally asked my doctor about the discrepancy, she said she would call pathology, but said something about the copolscopy being such small sample and the CKC being the "final determination" of what was really going on. I will post when I hear from her and would like to hear what you find out when you do...
