Here is my situation. I am having an endoscopy tomorrow. My only complaint is dyphagia to solids which appears to be toward the upper part of my esophagus or even in my throat. I really do not want him to go down through my stomach and to my small intestine if he does not need to do so. No sense risking perforation, etc, if I am not having any problems down that far. i am confident of that Can I request that he only go to the end of my esophagus?

I think you can make a request that your snall intestines not be tested and make sure it's taken off the consent form. I had both an endocscopy and colonoscopy the same day and let the doctor do the entire thing to make sure I didn't have any ulcers.

Awesome I am going to do that this morning. I have no problems really below the middle of my throat, and if I have GERD, it will show up in my esophagus. No need to go lower..

if you trust your doc, you should let them look everywhere. I know it's scary to think they would go into your intestine with a camera. i was too, but i let them do it and everything went fine. everything in life is a leap of faith.
