The last time I measured mine while flexing, they were 40cm (15.7inch) and 41cm (16.1inch) immediately after a bicep/tricep workout. 1 extra cm. due to the "pump". http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/biggrin.gif
I'm 5'11 and approx. 182lbs with a b/f of 10-11%

How do you guys measure your arms?
I'm thinking with a string where you tie it around then measure it using a ruler or something? How do you keep the string from falling if you only have one hand to do it? Just curious, trying to measure mine http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/smile.gif

I'm 5'9" and weigh 185-190 on average. My arms measure in at 17.5" - 18"
cali99boy, use a tape measure. You can find them at discount outlets (Wal-Mart), usally in the sewing section.

Mine are twelve inches when I flex. I'm 147 and 5'6. What difference does it make? (I'm a girl)

Its way to measure progress, and its a guy thing. You know we are all egotistical.

I think its normal if you're measuring progress, not egotistical. I was wondering what difference it makes for a girl. How do I measure my arms?

You would measure them the same as us. Wait about a week after doing your arm routine. Measure them flexed. 12" is a good size, depending on your training history and age.

My arms are 16.5 but I have an inflammation problem which impedes physical progress and I am also 6'4, 222 pounds. So in comparison to my height, they look normal.

Good on you, Rixtar. Seeing as u are 45 years old, u have had ample time to build muscle. But my thing is, a lot of you cats in Miami are not averse to using steroids. Are u on steroids, Rixtar? Because I am natural.
16.5 inches without creatine or any other water retaining products.

hello, I am new and really enjoy they way people interact on this site. I have been lifting for about 3 months or so, and i have gained 12lbs and my arms are 14in flexed. The only problem i have is i am 6'4 and i still look skinny. I hate the word skinny, but hopefully it won't be used to describe me if i keep lifting.

I have a question, I know this is going to sound gay but oh well, I am 13, and do not have a gym to go to or anything, is there anything I can do at my house (like maybe buy some cheap weights or something) to get my arms to be bigger, its kind of embarrasing, all my friends play sports, work out, etc. When I am this little toothpick kid with no muscles.

^^^ yeah go to wal-mart and buy some weights. I bought 170lbs of weights at wal-mart for like 25 bucks or so. Then got a bench set to do bench presses on. I get just as good of a workout, working out in my back yard as i did going to the gym. Plus in the winter time it gets cold and i work out in the garage and dont even break a sweat because its so cool in there. That may not be the case for everyone but i can work out my chest, sholders, arms, and abs on that thing. I could exercise my back and legs but i let my bike take care of that stuff.

GateKeepeR:
How tall are you and how much do you weigh? When I was 13(I'm 32 now), I was 5 foot something and I weighed 105 lbs. I was really scrany and was never good at sports. I was constantly embarassed about my size/build. I went to K-mart and bought a set of cheap wieghts and a basic bench. I started working, but could not get any real results. I didn't have anyone to show me the proper way to train and eat and so I eventually gave up - until now.
I'll recommend what the poster above me did: buy a set of weights and start working out. Read this site and as many others that you can find.
Don't be embarassed to ask for help - especially from your friends. If any of your friends lift, ask them to help you out. If they are REAL freinds, they'll be more than happy to help. Some of them may already have the equipment and knowledge to pass on to you. If start of correctly, you'll get better results quicker and you'll much more likely to keep up on the work.
It's a lot of hard work for a person of any age to dedicate themselves to a fitness program. This is the third time in my life that I have started a program. This time, I'm completely obsessed and so far, because of sites like this and a good diet - I am getting the best results ever. And that's what keeps me going.
It took me 3 tries to get it right. If I had done more research the 1st or 2nd time - I would already be in much better shape.
Be patient. It will take time, and you at a point in your life when are growing rapidly. Your hormones should be kicking in right about now and you will benefit a lot from that.
Good luck.
