Well, I went for some dental work this past week (not fun) and I was talking to the dental hygenist about my dizziness and how I have had it for the past 2 years with no releif. She said that she had vertigo for a year and then the dentist tested her for TMJ and had her wear a splint, and over several months corrected it and she has been dizzy and headache free ever since. The jaw is connected to the ears so in many patients it causes ringing in the ears, dizziness and vision problems. Now after 2 years of inner ear problems I am very skeptical of anything working now, and the process of getting your jaw realigned is pretty expensive, but I am going to give it a try....what's the harm right? and if it works well then it was soooo worth it.

If you don't stop the grinding that the TMJ causes, your jaw is going to go back to the same way it is now.

My ENT said that some of my symptoms may be TMJ related (I've had it for 15 years) but she said TMJ would not cause the severity of symptoms that I have (and they would be constant, not starting and stopping during the month).

It certainly could be TMJD but I would start with a nightguard first instead of having your jaw realigned. There is also a whole seperate message board on TMJD that you might want to check out.

Like I said....I am skeptical, but anything is worth a try at this point.....I really don't want to have to live feeling dizzy forever. All I have to do is wear a splint in my mouth for a while. Just though that I would bring it up and see if anyone had tried this before or heard about it.

Definitely try it Lauren! I would be interested to see if it helps you. I would like to know a little more about TMJD. I know I have it - I wear a nightguard too. But even with my nightguard I still have some jaw soreness. I think we are also supposed to massage our jaws to help relieve the tension and headaches and such.

Anyway, let us know how it goes! I just noticed that you have been here for a long time (over 2 years?). I hope you are getting better little by little.
