Hey Gang!

Just had my 1st experience with this on Memorial Day!

Went to our annual outdoor memorial day brunch & was having my 1st bloody mary & started seein bright stars & sat on a picnic bench & ended up underneath it passed out for about 30 secs & then was helped up & went out 2 more times. When they got there my BP was 50/30! I was taken to the ER by ambulance. So they ran all the tests at the hospital (blood sugar was fine at this time) & kept me over night with a heart monitor on & was let go the next day to have a glucose test done later to rule out diabeties.

Just wondering if anybody else has been thru this & if ur blood sugar could drop & then elavate to normal during the time it took to get to the hospital (approx 10 min)?

Take care... Dave!

Hi there. Sorry you haven't had a response. Alcohol can lower your bloodsugar. If you have some sort of hypoglycemic problem (not necessarily pre-diabetes) then your blood sugar could have dropped enough to cause you to pass out. It could have been brought up by your liver dumping glucose so it would have been normal by the time you got to the hospital.

I don't know if that could have caused your low blood pressure. Maybe, but I'm not sure. How warm was Memorial Day where you were? Maybe the combo of the alcohol and the temperature with a little dehydration thrown in could have caused the low BP.

Hope you stay fine and it doesn't happen again.

Good luck.

Based on that, not diabetes. If you passed out because of diabetes you probably wouldn't come to without having some kind of intervention. Also, to pass out because of your sugar levels they would really have to be so high or so low that even with treatment they wouldn't be normal enough not to be flagged on a test within 10 minutes. However, with a BP like that it's not surprising that you passed out! That could be down to a number of things, dehydration, thyroid problems, being out in the sun, anemia, standing too long, infection, allergies, infections, heart problems or any number of things. You aren't the only person for this to happen to, but there probably aren't too many people on a diabetes board that it has.

Please do not post the same question on multiple boards. Thanks.
