ursulac 06-02-2007, 04:53 AM Hi can anyone please tell me the average time it takes to have both feet operated on.My dd is have osteotomies and bunion removals on both feet.( general anaesth) Thanks for all the help so far. KathJack 06-02-2007, 03:44 PM I had a double bunionectomy & double hammertoe correction done last year-- I think it took about a hour & a half. I think I went to the hospital around 7 A.M. and was probably home by noon. That included time in pre-op prep, waiting for everything to be ready, getting rolled to & from the surgery room, a briefing with the anesthesiologist, surgery, and probably 45-60 min. in post-op. One thing that was weird-- I was totally aware after the surgery and felt "normal", but my sense of time was totally off. I was waiting for my husband to come and kept checking the clock because after what would seem like at least a half an hour, I'd look at the time and be very surprised to find that only a couple of minutes had passed. I was in no pain thanks to the block I had had. A wee bit of nausea, but nothing signficant and I didn't throw up. Best wishes to your daughter! (I am totally recovered now and very glad I had the surgery-- Just wish I hadn't waited so long and let my condition deteriorate as much as it did, so I understand your decision to go for it.) ursulac 06-03-2007, 02:07 AM kathjack...thanks for that.due to my DD s age she will stay in childrens ward a day or two.She has never been to hospital and so is excited to go and is looking forward to the op relieving her pain .She is also aware of the post op pain and discomfort of beimg immoblie for so long..Hope you go from strenght to strenght. debbie g 06-03-2007, 02:13 PM best wishes for your daughter. debbie g ursulac 06-03-2007, 03:35 PM debbie g...thanks so much..u had this done??? Happy Feet 06-03-2007, 05:08 PM Hi! well I'm am scheduled for bi lateral bunionectomy in two days. My mother will be be my help throughout this. Do I need more than one person to help out on the day on surgery. Plz help, cause I'm starting to get cold feet:confused: skyhighifly 06-03-2007, 05:53 PM Times can vary. If the surgery is on Wednesday, the doctor should have already shared the approximate length of surgery with you, or you had asked. You should see the doctor before the surgery and can ask day of, or give the office a call and leave a message for him. With children, the time can be longer or shorter. It just depends. My recommendation, call and ask the doctor so you have his answer. ursulac 06-04-2007, 02:23 AM thanks...i did forget at last appointment to ask the Dr how long my DD would be in theatre.he is now a way till tuesday so will only be able to chat to him on wednesday before op.I was hoping to get some type of idea of lenght of surgery from you guys.I had an answer of appr 1 and half hours??At this stage thats all I have to go by.thanks again for all the help on this board..tomorrow is the day and you guys have all helped alot. debbie g 06-04-2007, 04:41 PM not both feet at the same time. let us know how she is doing |
