[Hello -
I am new here and have found some great advise in many of your posts. I will give you a brief history of my injury. Almost 3 years ago I broke my foot in an ankle rolling accidnet. A Jones fracture. The fracture finally healed after 8 months of casts, boots and bone stimulators. Then - it fractured again at PT. Back to the same treatment and 8 more months recovery. I walked in 2 shoes for two months and the ankle rolled again - this time dislocating and tearing the peroneal tendon. I had the first repair surgery in August of 2006. Four months after surgery the tendon retore after a pivoting step. I had the second repair surgery in January 2007. Recovery was going well until all symptoms recently returned. An MRI has showed that the other peroneal tendon has now torn. It is evident to my OS that my 23 years of diabetes and thyroid problems has caused these tendons to degenerate. I am going in next week for surgery #3 to have the tendons tied together - tenodesis. Has anyone had this procedure done ? How does this stop the tendons from tearing ?
Not looking forward to going through a third surgery in 10 months and back in cast and crutches for 6 weeks. Any info on this procedure would be appreciated. Thanks.
