Hi there!
I will try to make a long story short.
Just found out last weekthat I am pregnant , am 5-6 weeks along.
since I am high risk they decided to do an ultrasound a few days ago, regular ultrasound didnt show much since it is still quite early in the pregnancy.
So they decided to do a vaginal ultrasound (TMI I know) so they asked me to empty my bladder which I did.
Well upon returning and proceeding with the vaginal u/s the technician asked my why I did not completely empty my bladder and that it was still half full!
I THOUGHT it was empty, it FELT empty so how could I not know it???
The technicain told me that since I have other neuroligical issues that I should have this looked into right away as it could cause problems for me.
I have a history of repeat UTI's to the point where I got them usually once a month if not more and my Dr could never figure out why...
I would also get side pains that would radiate towards my back but only on the sides and sometimes when I would go to empty my bladder the urine would be quite dark and have a much stronger smell than normal.
I would also at times have some leakage issues but always contributed it to the UTI's although this would also occur even while I was NOT having an infection.
So I was wondering, could these have been a sign of bladder problems??
I had no clue that I was having bladder issues until now so I am clueless on this one.
My question is, to the people who have had bladder problems did you have similar symptoms to mine??
How did you deal with it and how do you treat it???
I wont be getting in to see my Dr until the week after next but I would like to hear your opinions on this and any advice you may have.
Please share!!
Thanx a bunch and take care!

Hi Alberta Girl- yup, same thing. As you may know, I do not have a dx. I have learned to stay on the toilet for 1-2 minutes after voiding because even when I think I am done emptying my bladder, more will come out if I wait. I leak often and have experienced the dark, strong smelling urine as well.
Not sure if that helps you other than to know you are not crazy. Congratulations on your pregnancy and best wishes for a happy, healthy outcome!:)

Sometimes I can't start, then I finally go and I think I'm done and go out and wash my hands and realize I have to go some more. I always hope the rest room will either be empty or really busy so nobody notices.

Hi,
I had the same symptom of not emptying my bladder. It is called a neurogenic bladder and one of the symptoms that helped diagnose my Multiple Sclerosis. At first I was given Medication. That worked for a long time. There really is nothing you can do until you see your Doctor. I could tell u a lot, but I don't want to tell u things that I experienced that may never happen to u. Try and stay calm. If u want to talk, u can leave a message here or email me any time at Lobosgirl@aol.com.
