View Full Version : Elevated Glucos & Pancreas Problems?

I've read where one of the symptoms of pancreas problems (pancreatitis / cancer) is elevated glusose. Is this true, and what is the number when a red flag goes off indicating a potential problem? Can a number like 105/106 be a possible indication, or does it need to be much higher, like 125, 150, 200, etc?

Thanks.

I don't know what the numbers are, but my mom had a tumor on her pancrease and once it was removed, she was diabetic. She has had pancreasitis once too.

She is now on insulin.

Hi Marky,
Your glucose is normal at 106. However, remember not to self diagnose, try to get your doc to order an EUS (endoscopic ultrasound) and a CT to look at your pancreas. Also, there is a tumor marker blood test called a CA19-9 that she can order. you need to put the question of pancreatic cancer to rest. For many people, the only symptoms are one or more of the following; indigestion/bloating/diarrhea that aren't resolved by treatment, light colored stools, back pain, weight loss. Of course, these can also be caused by other things that are not cancer. If your doc won't do these tests, find another doc!
