I have no one else to talk to about this as I am so embarrassed and I just cant face it but lat week I was admitted to hospital in the early hours after I got us to use the loo and was greeted by what I coud only describe as pus.
The doc said he feared I have an inter perenial abcess so he took me in to open me up and drain it. On Thursday when I came around from surgery I was told that I had IBD. He said there was no cure only treatment but he was not going to treat it until he has the results back which wouldnt be for a week. He then said he was amazed that at this point I had no other symptoms (ie pain) as my lower bowel was in a terrible state with open sores (this sounds awful) I then said fine I want to go home if you arent going to do anything so with minimal resistance they let me go Saturday.

What I want to know is why has this happened to me? Could it be because I am allergic to something as a few years ago a health food shop told me I had intolerance to a fwe things but I dismissed it as a money making scam. Also I take extensive pain killers for slipped discs in my neck which I am awaiting surgery for. I cant help but worry that they have done this (nb they are not anti inflammatory drugs they are codiene)

And why are they leaving me with this stuff coming out??? Its awful! They said if it were hurting they would have risked treating it but all I could say it felt like was a burning (make sense)

How will they treat me? What are they waiting for? In the meantime am I at risk of perferation???
They said they couldnt tell me if it would get worse but they didnt think so in a week.

So I see the specialist on Friday! And I am worried I want more kids will that be ok? And when I ******s this IBD it said it could be UC or Chronns well which is it??

I know this is making little sense but to be honest I just dont feel comfortable talking about my stools to people face to face. Please help me

A very worried Mel

Sorry I can't add any enlightenment to your situation Mel. I'm sure there are those on this site that can, and will. I'll just say GL with your fight to get better, and I hope your doctors get you on the straight & narrow again. It's a shame we get these disorders we can't figure out, and our doctors look at us like we're nuts! I've been feeling bad with pain in my mid-back region, and I'm concerned with my pancreas, and my doctor fluffs it off like it's nothing, and I can't find answers to what I'm asking.

Hang in there, and good luck.

my husband suffered similarly for years and years, was told that it was ulcerative colitis, with movements in which there would be blood and pus, i know it is awful. he almost lost hope when i decided to eliminate certain things from his diet after reading a book written by an american doctor - the title of which eludes me - suggesting that many bowel disorders are down to allergies. so i cut all foods containing lactose and fructose from his diet - these two being the most problematic in the bowel - and kept him in a diet of fish, rice, pasta, no veg, no fruit, but plenty of olive oil, for several weeks.
the results were quite remarkable, and within a short time he came off the medication he had been taking for years and actually started to enjoy life.
and the good thing is that after a certain amount of time, i gave it three months to be on the safe side, you can start to introduce a little veg and fruit into the diet again. but stay off bananas and potatoes, those were terrible for my husband. of course i don't suggest you do this without your doctors knowledge, but it would surely be worth a try especially seeing as you suspect you could be allergic to foods already.
