My bad. I think it was the valerian root I took hours before I took the trazodone that did it.
I just read somewhere that you should not take valerian root with any other antidepressant/sleep/antianxiety medications.

That is more likely.. minerals, vitamins and supplements like that tend to affect the ability for you to absorb certian medicines.. there are exceptions, but that is the main issue with minerals.

Were you referring to the cal/mag/zinc or the valerian root?
Should I take trazodone on an empty stomach for best results?

I was agreeing that your problem was mostlikely a result of the valerian root in conjunction with the trazodone.
The vitamins/minerals would only block the adsorption of the trazodone.. making it less effective.
Food ans drink shouldn't be much of an issue. You want the trazodone to get into your system before taking any vitamins. Is Trazodone once a day? If so take your vitamins in the morning and trazodone at night..
I am not sure exactly, but I think it is four hours before and two hours after or two hours before and four hours after taking a medication sensitive to mineral blockage that you can safely take vitamins. For example.. I take my night time medication with dinner and four hours+ later take my vitamins.
Sincerely,
MG
