I have tailbone area pain. My doc said it'll go away in time. Is this so. He said it just time to heal.

I've known one person who has that problem. Yes it goes away for them and they claim it is very painful. Unfortunately, it does reoccur for them.

Have you had an injury to that area in the past?

You might try ice or heat, whichever works better for you, and ibuprofen or naproxen, unless your doctor has prescribed something stronger for you.

Many of those who have had surgery involving the tailbone will have continual problems with pain in that area. There's not much that can be done in those cases, except to get up and walk around often and sit with knees lower than hips and feet tucked under the chair.

I wish you the best. Let us know how you are.

The very first spine problem I ever had treated was a very painful coccxyx problem that wasn't healing with time. The doc eventually did a cortisone shot right there in his office (! Yikes) and I was too young and too stupid to have any idea what was coming. BUT it worked. I never had another problem and I'd been bent in half and in tears getting out of a chair for 6 months. That was nearly 25 years ago. Not sure if they'd do it this way anymore but that's my story. Best of luck - Suzy-Q

So sorry you are having this problem; i can relate to it too.
Before my surgery i had this problem to the point when you can't get up from the chair if you sit. Sitting is the worse.
After i had my surgery, Doctor mentioned that the area was cleaned also, a lot of arthrities and ddd, stenosis, etc. For about 5 month after surgery i did not feel any discomfort in that area at all (i had other problems). And than pain came back and i believe now is worse than it was before surgery. Now i am 15 month after and the pain is still there. Now my Doctor said it can't be helped, i have to leave with this pain.
I know exactly what you are going through - on the same page.

Good luck to you, feel better!!

I had this pain and still do at times , I can't sit straight up or it feel's like someone hit me with a hammer right on the tailbone . My surgeon said it was because I was on my bum to much . But I know it is from surgery. It has got better on the 8-9th month after surgery but going on a year next month I still get it just not as much. It suck's I know .
