View Full Version : Addisons, high blood pressure and low blood pressure

Hi, I have Addisons and was told I didn't need fludrocortisone (because I had secondary AI-not so sure about that now) despite always having low blood pressure. Not long ago, I caught a tummy bug from my grandson, didn't feel too bad and then in the middle of the night realised I was in trouble. A cardiologist was sent from the local hospital and by the time he arrived, which was quick, my BP was 40/20 and I could not move although fortunately I was still conscious and thrust 2 vials of solu-cortef into his hands which he immediately injected intravenously probably saving my life. Eventually they got me onto a stretcher and I was in hospital for about 36 hours whilst they stabilised my BP. I am now on one tablet a day of fludrocortisone in addition to HC and have never felt better in my life. However, my BP is now a bit on the high side! Around 130/90 but was told that may represent the high in my day and is not necessarily what it would read all day. I tried taking half a tablet but didn't feel too well so went back to 1 a day. I am still working this out, but if you have low blood pressure and/or find that HC isn't enough to make you feel better, it might be worth trying this if your blood pressure is low. Cheers and good luck to all.
