Hi all

I am new to this board but have been reading various messages since I had my Surgery on 2 May 2007. I have servere hammertoe deformities on both feet. I have had the tendons cut and made longer on both feet but this has been unsuccesful. On 2 May I had my left foot done with the big toe being fused with permanent plate and screws and the four other toes a piece of joint removed and wires inserted down the toes which hang out slightly at the end. I have already had the stiches removed which wasnt too bad but quite sore. On Monday I am having the pins removed and I am really worried about this, did anyone else experience any difficulties in having this done? My Surgeon has assured me that having the stiches out is worse and that they will slide out quite easily  but im not so sure

Thanks

Hi,
I had pins before and had them removed. You should just feel a tug but no pain.I hope this is the case for you, good luck,
Sue:angel:

I had a pin removed from my baby toe. I was scared to death but it was quick and painless. Indeed, having the stitches out was horribly painful.

yep.. I agree with the above.. it's not painful. They have to put some pressure on the area to pull it out, so it's a little uncomfortable, but nothing to get worked up about.

Ok I must be a sissy mine hurt sooo bad!!!
But I think it's because it was only in there for 7 days.
Maybe my toe was still tender from the surgery.

Hi all

Well I had my pins removed on Monday and I am  how can three and a half inch pins come out so easily and not hurt ! There was no pain at all just a slight pulling sensation at first and then out they poppped :dizzy: All that worrying for nothing... Ah well now its onto the waiting list again for the other foot to be done but I know what to expect this time so it will be a breeze
