hello everyone,

my wife has retinopathy due to her diabetes. her doctor recommended a procedure that would flush/drain out the blood in her eye. i do not know the name of this procedure. if anyone has gone through this, please reply as she is really nervous about the whole situation and would help her feel more at-ease knowing a little more about it.

thanks in advance.

I believe that what you are talking about is a vitrectomy. They remove the fluid filled part of the eye and replace it. I have had several friends that have had it done. No surgery is fun, but it was day surgery. My one friend had a black eye after, but that was it. They were both able to see again after. My one friend went from being legally blind to being able to drive again.
