okay i was just wondering if anyone knows how many calories someone would burn while working with weights? i know it depends on how many exercises you do, how much weight you use etc...i'd like to list an example and maybe someone would know? Thanks if you do :) Info: 21/f 5'8" 155lbs
I worked my legs yesterday and this is what i usually do:
11min warmup on the treadmill
squats- 3sets- 20/30/40lbs- reps 15/15/10
leg extensions- 3 sets- 15/25/35lbs- reps 20/15/15
dumbell lunges- 2 sets- 8lbs/10lbs-reps 15/12
lying leg curls- 2 sets- 20/30lbs- reps 15/15
stretched for 5-10mins
i just started out doing this the past two weeks, is this good? i will ofcourse work up on the weights. but does anyone know around how many cals this will burn??

It's extremely difficult to tell by those stats, but for light lifting for about an hour, you'll probably burn between 200 and 300 calories. The bonus is, your metabolism will stay higher for hours afterward and you will continue to burn more calories even if you're just sitting around than you would be if you had not done any resistance training. There are a lot of fitness calculators on the web that will let you inclue more specific information to calculate calories burned for varous activities. A quick search should give you a lot of different hits. Try a couple and take each answer with a grain of salt since so many factors have to be considered to get a true, accurate calculation.
