So....

You hear on these boards.... the definition of weight loss really is.. to burn more then you consume, right? Then you hear people say you need a minimum of 1200 calories a day. There are days where I eat a peach for breakfast, turkey on wheat for lunch, and some veg and chicken for dinner.. this is WELL under 1200 calories.. but keeps me satisfied.. so which one is it.. eat 5 meals a day even if you arent hungry? eat when your hungry? going into starvation mode... well if you think about the people in asia with their rices, and seaweeds they eat well under that as well and they are just fine.. HELP!!! I have 15 more pounds to lose and there are so many myths!!!

Starvation response is not a myth, it is a biological fact. If you eat way too few calories then your body will respond by holding on to your fat reserves to keep you alive long enough until starvation is over. The best thing to do is very simple indeed. Eat at regular meal times and add a couple of healthy snacks in-between. Exercise a LOT. If you want to lose weight the healthy way, and the way to keep the weight off permanently, is not to eat less food but to exercise more. Exercise does not necessarily mean going to the gym. It can be simple walking outdoors, hiking, rollerblading, skiing, etc. Anything that gets you moving is good. If you exercise enough you may actually have to eat more in order to prevent too much weight loss. So, my advice is eat well (but do not overeat, you still need to make sure that you consume fewer calories than you use) and exercise a lot.

there are many who eat under because they have no choice ...
you will find if you do eat more you will get off the plateau you are on and start losing again..and could just be a a plateau..your body will start to "fight" you when you have lost weight because it gets used to different weight and when you change the weight it takes it awhile to adjust to that too...
I have kept my weight at where I want it and my body fat the leanest by following more of a lower carb approach..more proteins less grains...and of course water..if you eat little your body will get used to that, but the downfall will be if there are periods of time where you eat more, or eat less healthier choices you'll gain faster then one that eats more on a regular basis...
takes some getting used to, but it does work...
I used to eat only 1 meal a day..small at that, and it took a long time to practice what I preach about eatin more, but probably healthier now then I ever was...
just my 2 cents..lol
