I recently contracted Chlamydia. Once I found out, I immediately had my husband tested. He was negative. I am completely faithful. How did I contract this? Is it possible that my husband can be a "carrier" and just pass it on without having the bacteria? Or can it be contracted in other ways - not sexually?

Well have you slept with anyone before him? How long ago?

No. Last person was before I got married, 5 years ago.

Anyone have any advice for me? A nurse told me that it is possible that my husband could be a "carrier" and still test negative. (Which would mean, of course that he'd would have to have cheated.) Then he could give me the bacteria, where I would test positive. Is this possible? Or can I get chlamydia some other way than sexually?

I contracted chlamydia about 3 years before I got married. We only found because I got pregnant and my tubes were full of scar tissue, leading to an ectopic pregnancy. :( My husband was never tested, just given the same pills I was to get rid of it. But I wouldn't have been surprised if he had tested negative had they tested him. So I would say you could have it for years and not even know.
