I have this problem now...I started a wieght gaining with wieght training regime last may. I wanted to gain around 10 pounds over the summer so I could look more beefy. I only gained about 4 and that was in the first few weeks...I have got a lot stronger though, I can lift a lot more. Anyways I eat around 6 times a day..good balance of protein and carbs, drink a lot of water..I also take creatine..I workout 4 times a week and do not do any cardio. I cannot not seem to gain a pound. Also I literally have to crap after almost every meal..5-6 times a day is not unusal for me..and it is healthy poop not splattery or anything...any suggestions? BTW I am 5'7" 158 pds.

You're certainly getting enough protein, but recent studies show that caesin (sp?) is better for gaining mass. The reasoning is that it is more slowly digested giving the body a better nitrogen balance. This is a basic milk protein, like whey.

Also, how many total calories are you getting? If you're not gaining weight, add more calories.

i'm estimated about 1700-1800 based on what u posted. i think u should try eating 2100, see what happens. then go 2400-2500 if u need to.

u need some fat in your diet like 25%. i don't really see any, there's a small amount in the turkey or chicken. u need some efa's too (fish oil, oily fish)
can eat peanut butter or olive oil for fat.

I also suspect calories are standing in your way. I'm thinking you're gonna need to go way past 2100, probably past 2500 as well, although upping it slowly is a good idea.

Unless you're using lowfat or nonfat mayo, I suspect you're getting in the neighborhood of 20% fat, which is reasonable, but the sources of it (largely mayo) could use some work. Some flax oil or fish would do the trick and be much healthier. Milk is another good option.

Another good source of extra calories would be swapping out one of the shakes with a high cal shake. You'll probably lose about 10 grams of protein in the process, but you'll gain a couple hundred extra calories. This would make for a good post-workout meal.
