View Full Version : Has Anyone Tried Invega (Paliperidone) AKA Long-Acting Risperdal?

Hi. I started taking 3mg of Invega yesterday (the smallest available dose) and I'm wondering if anyone else here takes it?

It's a new medication which is basically a long-acting form of Risperdal. I have never tried regular Risperdal so I have no idea if Invega will be similar.

My Psychiatrist and Myself decided this might be a good med for me as I was having nothing but trouble on Geodon and Trazodone. They totally threw my into a terribly unstable mixed state. Oh gosh was it bad. Luckily I'm now coming through it.

So any info or experiences you may have regarding Invega (Paliperidone) would be greatly appreciated as I'm having a hard time finding anything about this med because it's so new.

Thanks everyone and have a great weekend! :)

Hugs,
Baby Bunny

i started taking it a month ago for bipolar disorder-- i have been through many meds, and this one seems to be working well. i feel more even, and i generally feel calmer. the only drawback is that it has made me gain a little weight and lactate a bit. for the weight, the doc is giving me topamax, and well, as for the lactation, i am just going to have to deal with it. he told me there is a med i ca take to lower my prolactin level (invega raises one's prolactin level, which stimulates the hormone that causes lactation), but i think i am on enough already (starting to come off of 600 mg lithium once a day). plus, i feel so good that i will just deal with it. i just have been putting pads in my bra. aside from some of the side effects, a good drug.
