I'm 22 years old and am 5'5 tall and weigh 224

how many calories a day with exercise would i need to lose two pounds a week. thanks.:)

I think 2 pounds a week is an unrealistically high goal. WHy not settle for about a pound a week and for that, I'd say something like 2,000 calories per day with a little esxercise will do the trick? If that doesn't work (but it probably WILL), then lower to 1900.
Actually, the 2000 calories may get you more than a pound a week since you're a young guy.


If you WANT more, you can probably get 2 pounds a week at 1500 calories but the faster you lose weight the more your body will start to resist you...and make it easiert to gain it back.

You're in this for life so there's no rush.

Try to figure out how many calories your taken in now, then you decide how much you want to lower them, if your taking in around 2000/2300 calories daily and you maintain your weight with in a lb or two then common sense wold tell you that you need to lower them numbers to lose. if your average calories consumption is 2250 then try ...1700.

like Lenin said lower to 1900 /or what works best for you...its for a life time!
if you can figure out your current intake of calories then lower them 500.
Start counting them calories!

Exercise helps a lot.

A pound of body fat is equivalent to 3500 calories. If you eat 500 less calories a day than normal, after a week that's 3500 calories and 1 pound. If you add exercise that burns about 500 calories a day, that's another pound per week.
