Well I go through the tunnel on Wednesday morning, having MRI's of Cervical and Thoracic with and without contrast. I'm dreading it, as laying on that hard table for that amount of time will make my neck feel awful for several days.
I'm having a lot of burning into both my arms again, I know this is not a good sign, and is a sign of nerves being compressed somewhere. Plus I've been getting head and facial numbness one side, this is being currently under study with my neurologist who thought it could be mini-strokes, but so far all the tests are fine, I did have an EEG last week, haven't gotten the results yet, and still waiting for blood work to come back, it could also be from my Lupus, but I still think it's coming from my neck.

I am sorry you are going thru so much. I also hate MRI's. The hardest part is having to lay still as it is painfully. I just time my meds so that they will hit me about the time they put me in the tube. Sometimes that is hard if you have a delay.
I will be praying that the results are good and that the damage is reveserable.
Please keep us posted.

Thanks Clover, I just wish they could give me a comfortable pillow, but I guess not, I will definitely time my meds differently that morning, thanks for the advice.

Oh Tulip I feel so bad. I've been through many many MRIs and the trying to lie still is the hardest part.
My thoughts and prayers are with you.

The last MRI I had I fell asleep. The put so many pads on me, I was confortable. She also had nice music on that made it go by so quick. I did hurt afterward. Took two days for the pain to go away.:D

It works like a charm. You have the buzzing of the machine and I figured I might as well buzz right along with it. :D

Good luck on Wednesday and I would definitely try to time your meds like Clover mentioned.

Someone on here(I can't remember who) recommended lamaze breathing.
I was in the tube a week ago and holy hell, did it hurt lying flat on my back.
I tried to put my mind on my breathing and it got me thru!
The med idea above is also good. I shoulda done that!
*edit: I want to add that the tech working the machine was very good about getting on the little loudspeaker inside the tube letting me hear how I was doing and how much more to go.
If you need a break I am sure if you let them know before, they can pull you out of the tube between pictures.
Good luck, wishing you well.

I never thought of taking my ipod, I've got it out, and ready for the morning, I'm dreading this, I don't mind going in these things, I just dread the laying for so long and knowing what it will do to me afterwards.
Thanks everyone for the good advice.

My MRI yesterday was not a bad experiense at all (to oppose my previous).
They put my head and upper body into fixator (you can't move your head, shoulders or back). It was a nice soft body pillow under my back on a top of fixator. They gave me head phones, you pick the music you love. I had a wedge under my knees... was not bad at all even though 1 1/2 of test is too long, this is true. But i forgot to tell you- i took my pain medication 1/2 hr prior to the test.
Good luck to you and i hope you will get good results...

Thanks everyone, to top this all off, I was driving tonight, stopped at a stop sign, a car pulled up along side of me and said both of my brake lights were out, well I know this is not good, so I put a phone call right away into the garage, and will take the car tomorrow right after my MRI, so I won't be able to come home right away and get some good heat on my neck, but the car has got to get in, since I have a pain doc. appt. on Thurs and that is 45 minutes away from my house and I need my car, hubby can't help he's gone on business. It's always something, and my neck is really killing me today I don't know what I did, it didn't bother me when I woke up, it just started this afternoon, so I've been using heat which is helping. I just need a break.

{{{Tulip}}} I'm so sorry this is happening to you. Just try to rest as much as you can before hand. I know it's easier said than done when you've got so much going on.
I hope you get good, fast results to relieve some of the tension. ;)
