My friend just confided in me that his pregnant wife has a bump around her vagina. Now she believes he may have been unfaithful. At her doctors appt a couple of day ago the doctor said she didn't it is anything serious like herpes and she can deliver the baby vaginally. They said it could possibly be a wart. But they would deal with it after the birth of the baby. (She is due any day) My question is I heard that HPV can cause this wart and can live dormant in your system for many years and possibly contracted it from her previous mate. If anyone can give any info on this it would be appreciated. I also believe that if the doctor thought it was serious the baby would be taken by c-section. Any suggestions on this matter would be helpful. I know it is killing him because he has been faithful and doesn’t know where or how she could have gotten anything. Additionally nothing has been proven ether way....as in no tests have been done yet.

hey, you can get HPV through non-sexual contact... i wouldn't worry about unfaithfulness. If someone insists they have been faithful, then I am more likely to believe them and assume the virus was caught non-sexually (if they were both virgins when they started having sex together).
Yes, it could also be from a previous partner if either of them had previous partners.
It is also possible that it can be transmitted to a child during birth - but it is a highly contagious disease, and most people will end up catching it during their life. It is not too much to worry about. The warts - if they show up (because they don't always show up) - are relatively easily dealt with using topical creams or surgery (although they can be quite stubborn and can come back a number of times).
And girls - any girls / women - just need to be careful that they are getting regular pap smears so that they can pick up any changes that the virus may cause to their cervix before it leads to cervical cancer. Women have to do this whether or not they have been in an at risk situation to catch the virus - because it is so contagious, and you can catch it without ever knowing.
