that you had BiPolar....

I had a childhood trauma so from then till I was 30 I always knew something was wrong with me. Went to my 1st pdoc and he gave me Procaz which landed me to the Hospital where I was diagnosed with Bipolar... It's been a struggle since..

Interesting, almost like the trauma brought it out..I've heard of that. I believe Jane Pauly had hers brought on by stress too, a medical illness that required steroids.

In my husband's case I always thought he was bipolar but kept convincing myself that it just couldn't be because bipolars are crazy people and he's not a crazy person...LOL, that's literally what I thought.

Then one morning (after he had been up all night) he told me he was Jesus Christ and was going to save the world in 36 hours. It was then that I said Houston, we have a problem

He's doing good now, but I still worry about my 17 year old son.

they thought I had depression first and then a few mos later realized it was BP II. My bro and 2 nephews have it. My brother, a bunch of years ago when I was still in college, came over and said he was a different name and that my brother had sent him from the army since he died
(obviously being that he still was my actual brother not someone else I didnt get it. )
isnt that more like multiple personalities or something? well he really believed he was someone else and it was the grandeurs illusions the story got worse, to where he said quit your job and sell your computer I am getting you a new one and work for me, I have such and such business (which he did not, and I did not listen to him since he was just so insane. I have BP but I never did anything crazy like that!
I have done usually the more depressive side and had manic more at first than now, such as very bad with blowing money, etc.
But I am not like that now.

Hi there,

i had a childhood trauma and had lots of psychotherapy then. Around 12/13 yrs old I started displaying the symptoms but eveyone put it down to the emotional trauma of my original event. However, maternal grandmother spent years and years in a pysch hospital, both maternal uncles are uni-polar, maternal cousin bi-polar, real father alcholic which as we know is co-morbid (just committed suicide) and paternal cousin schizophrenic.....so you could say it's in the family. I seem to have it the worse though.

i had a manic episode in seattle. i am from georgia.

the hotel manager got involved in a spat between me and my sister. she said her daughter was bi-polar. of course, i didn't get that she was telling me i might be bipolar.

well, she ended calling the police and an ambulance showed up. they said i could either go with the police or go to the hospital.

chose the hospital. and once upon time began.

For me it was a long rough road as I suppose it has been with others. It started when I was very young and very sensitive to others and their world of wonderful words or thoughts. Over the years the depression and self injury I was in constant therapy and started with being labeled depressed, severly depressed, to psychotic, and so forth. The anti-depressants they had me on made me worse not better. No one listened. I got a medical book and with a list of stuff I wrote down along with a dictionary came to the conclusion. I ran away from home and to make a long story short ended up in a hospital for kids. The pdoc agreed that I was Bipolar but when you start at age 4 or five going through stuff to age 16 if dx'ing. You feel old and that a lot of time was wasted. But that is the jist or we'd be a while lol. Spared ya! Be happy!
