Hello Again,
I have a few questions. The past week my blood sugar seemed to be ok (100-140) when I check it two hours after I eat some carbs, which seems contradictory to the readings I was getting the past few months(160-250). I really don't understand it other than I noticed when I eat ice cream cake it doesn't go up, so I was thinking it may be the extra fat along with the sugar? Another question I have is that if my blood sugar returns to "normal" two-hours after I eat is it really a problem if it rises over 140 an hour afterward? I'm thinking that maybe I am over reacting and it really isn't pre-diabetes. What do you think?

Have you done a fasting test? If not, try doing one. That will give you some more info to go with what you already have. You don't say how many carbs your eating and then testing after. If it is a minimal amount then 100-140 is not a great reading, if it is a lot then it's not so bad. With the ice cream cake, one thing I thought of was a lot of the carb in that is simple sugars. They could potentially cause your glucose levels to raise and fall in a shorter time period than complex carbs that take longer to digest. Readings of 250 are definitely something to be concerned about though, thats full diabetes level rather than pre-diabetes.

I have been checking my morning levels and they are usually in the 90's lately with a few times at 100, 105 and today was 103. I think your right about the carbs, because I have been eating healthier carbs like whole wheat buns, pasta, and vegetables. I never thought about my sugar spiking with the icecream cake and going down quickly since I do a 2-hour test. I assumed it was the extra fat. Since most people's blood sugar goes up after carbs and returns to normal after two hours, how do I know if I have a problem? Basically is it bad if it spikes and goes high but then returns to say under 140 2-hours later? I don't want to assume I have pre-diabetes if this is normal and be told I am over-reacting when I see my doctor.
