Morning Lost,

I had Insomnia for years. I was on Trazadone for about 11 yrs to deal with it. The traz worked great, but I weaned myself off last year. I still have some sleeping problems but not that bad.

What are you taking????

Ok, so maybe time for a med change. I think even with Ambien you can build up a tolerance to it.

Traz isn't addictive.....it is and AD but at lower doses it is used for sleep. You can safely take up to 300mgs a night for sleep.

an AD? An antidepressant?

Hi Lost.... I have suffered from insomnia off and on for about 10 years. I find that when I can shut my mind down I sleep with no problems. When my mind is racing I could swallow a bottle of sleep aids and would still be up all night. That's just me. Haven't found any pill that has helped and shutting the mind down at times is impossible.

Dear LIT:

I take Ambien CR and Trazadone: that does a mediocre enough job for me.

Lost,

You crack me up....You are so silly. It doesn't mean that they won't work for you. Everyone is different with meds....

Exactly!!!! I for one have never found anything that knocks me out. BUT I have heard that traz is one of the best for sleep. non-addictive. Only a few side effects, Most of these drugs interact with my BP meds so they are :nono: for me. If I'm that bad off most times two klonopins will help me to relaz enough to sleep. Here was my drill right after surgery: Keep in mind all of these drugs the first side effect is drowsiness.

Zyrtec
Klonopin
Toradol
Percocet
Flexeril

4 drugs to make you sleepy and I'm still up all night.

I fear I will be the kind that nothing knocks out. What is Klonopin???

ICC

It's a benzo (anti-anxiety) drug. Lost I have tried everything over the years and this is the only drug that has helped. I go on and off it as needed and have never suffered any withdrawal.

I would suggest a baseball bat....lol Just joking. I was on 400mg of trazodone for about 4 years at a dose of 600mg at night and found it to be nice...better then ambien...10mg is what is suggested...I hate to tell the drug makers but they need to more testing cause if you have problems shutting the mind down...10mg is just not enough. I just take seroquel(along with a few others) now but they are starting to take me down...we didnt want the new baby to have withdrawls too. I found kolipin(sp) to be addicting and just didnt work...but then again I am not a normal person when it comes to the doses they give....hmmmmm Im a beautiful freak of nature....:D.....I hope you find something that works for you

An "acquaintance" told me that I should get use to not sleeping that women get insomnia because of "mature moments" (which assume she was talking about menopause). hmmmmpffffffff..........I've had it for years so I'm thinking NOT!!!!

Lost,

Interesting.......I guess then I have had mine off and on since my mid 20's...I am now 53....WHEN does it end????? :) :D

Still do have hot flashes, and night sweats...But I am sleeping better. I think here theory is ok as far as menopause. Go back and explain to her that you haven't slept in yrs......I bet she comes up with another explanation....

Hugs,

Sid

PS did you sleep last night????

Lost_in_Time
06-13-2007, 01:18 PM
Yes, I'm sure her theory is fine.....but the first words out of her mouth were telling me I'm Mature which equals OLD!!!! :)

I slept better.....went to sleep around 1:30ish and slept the rest of the night....so, that was a major improvement, although I wish I could go to sleep earlier....but, I'll take 1:30 over 7:00

how are you?

Tired, there is no sunshine today, so I feel like crap. Feel like I have been up for days...UGH!!!! I hate days when there is no sun..... Other than that OK...

How's the battle going with you???? Have you weaned off the Cymbalta or are you back on it???

Sid

Lost,

I have S.A.D. Seasonal defective disorder. I get depressed when there isn't enough sunshine. So I am tired, and blah today.

Nightmares.... been there done that......Are they nightmares about stuff that has happened???? I used to have those, plus some others that I couldn't relate to or explain either... Just weird crap.

Sid

Lost,

I don't have the nightmares anymore. Mine just sort of went away after dealing with all of my crap. I'm sorry that you still have yours. They can be awful. When you get yours, and you wake up, just keep telling yourself that your ok, and it happened a long time ago, and it can't hurt you now.....

I think I may need some sunshine...Things don't look so good at 5:30 this morning, kind of chilly too. YUCK!!!

Sid

Goodness, girl, I hope the sun comes out where you are. It's stormy here today so I can't box any up and send it to you.

I'm glad your dreams went away. Mine have gotten better with the years of counseling and analyzing them with the T. Using his technique I can analyze them a lot and figure out what a lot of them really mean, you know subconsiouslly and all, but still I have them which doesn't make them feel too good.....something happened this week to to remind of part of the old trauma and I think that has my brain stirred up....I read something in the newspaper that I wasn't expecting so it got my dreams all stirred up again......well, worse than usual I guess....

Okay........had about three hours of sleep last night, guess I'll live...

Hope your day is better today....its hot and stromy here....

Lost,

So something you read triggered the dreams??? Did it bother you when you first read it??? Or did it just wake up the dreams???

Sid
