View Full Version : 2CM Kidney Stone! Desperate!

I have a 2CM Kidney stone. I did the lithotripsy and have a stent in my left kidney. I have been urinating blood for almost 2 weeks. I told my Dr. about how much pain I am having, so he ordered some bloodwork and it came back normal. I called him back yesterday and told him I cannot take this pain anymore, that something needs to be done soon. He ordered me a urinalysis and I swear the cup looked like it was full of red wine. The techs looked at it and said Whoa you must have an infection. I have an appt. with the Dr. today so he can look at the XRay I had after the Litho, and he will also go over the urinalysis results. I don't think the stone has broken up much, since I have only passed a little bit of sand like pieces. He says I can either go through Litho again, or have the surgery through my back. He keeps talking about a tube in my back and that is scaring me. I asked him about the procedure where they go in through the ureter and take the stone out or break it up that way and he said there is no way, it is too big! I am really scared and feel like I am running out of options. He says he could admit me to the hospital and they can run pain meds through an iv to keep my comfortable, but I have a job and a 3 year old. I cannot stay in the hospital. Has anyone experienced this much pain after the litho and a stent? My left side of my back is hurting so bad, and I have a sharp pain in my left side. Any info will be appreciated. Thanks, Melissa

Hi Melissa

I've never had litho..but stents yes they are brutally painful...your stent might be to big for you..I had one once that was ridiculously large it was driving me insane...it was one that came with the endpylotomy kit...(the whole procedure failed..)

Is there anyone who can help you with your 3 year old?
One time I was admitted when my son was a few months I had a kidney stone (one of the many) the size of a kidney bean and blood clots.. I know how you feel of not wanting to leave your child..it might be better for you if you get this taken care of sooner than later..stones can grow and it can become more painful..

Take Care and keep us posted...sending you hugs and angels..

Hi Allie! Thank you for writing! I posted on a new thread about getting Ureteroscopy, did you say you had this procedure? I am very scared and could use any info or advice if you have any. Thanks so much for your support! Melissa

Ureteroscopy and cystoscopy are pretty much the same..they use a similar type of device with a lighted camera looking into the bladder/ureters.
They did the ureterscope with the endopylotomy I had done which failed.

Oh no, I am sorry it failed. Did they use the laser on you? I am not too familair with all of these techniques. My stone is in the kidney and they plan on using the laser to break it up. I hope it works! Melissa
