Hi all (sorry Eyes if you're reading) but i guess this one is for the ladies!

I have always been very sensitive to my hormones - in fact for a while on the way to diagnosis of BP I had originally gone to the doctor saying my pms was really bad but only every 3 mths regular as clockwork. Anyway, last month I had my worst episode of psychosis for a while. BUT, it started just as my husband went to Jamaica on a lads holiday and I was completely obsessed with this and threatening divorce, cutting up his clothes literally screaming and throwing things around the house while he was on the other side of the world.

Interestingly he left the day i ovulated - we had sex that morning. The following morning my breasts were twice the size and more painful that I recall them being when I actually was pregnant. I started to believe I was pregnant even though hubby had vasectomy last July....The symptoms got worse and worse for about 7-10 days. Then I went to the doctor (GP) who said that i could be sensitive to progesterone and the whole lot is associated with neurotransmitters and serotonin etc. Had a whole raft of blood tests which all came back normal or satisfactory. I also got one of the worst periods of my life too.

The vasectomy consultant recommended I take star-flower oil - she doesn't know I have BP. i have been feeling GRRREEEAAAT :blob_fire since :jester:.

Yesterday I went into town to meet a couple of girlfriends for lunch and stayed out on my own in town drinking until midnight. double vodka's all the way - must have had 20. I was in a pub where a friend is the manager a year or so back i just would have gone anywhere - so i must have some level of control still.

Does anyone know if star flower shouldn't be taken with mood stabilisers? I am seeing psych this friday so will tell him too.

i just feel so great though and don't want to lose it....

Well Star Floer Oil really is more like a food than a med so I would think it would be OK. We call it Borage oil in the US. Evening Primrose Oil is also recommended. If you feel good maybe it was because your body needed EFA's, they are supposed to be good for brain function.

Borage oil or star flower oil is a good source of Essential Fatty Acids (EFA's)...they are known to feed the brain. Vitamin E and Evening Primrose oil are also good and sometimes pills combine all 3 sources.

Yes the consultant recommend Primrose oil too - apparently star flower is higher concentrate of EFA's so you don't need as many tablets/capsules - and we could all do with fewer of those!!! So I now take omega and star flower and my meds. I did find on ****** that it does have contra-indications for folks on epilepsy or anti-pyschotics. My psych wanted to put me on anti-pysch last month, so we'll see on Friday if he still thinks so. I don't want to if possible.
