Ok...for the past few years I have had some issues with my bowels.
Nothing too terrible, but now they are becoming more consistent. During my pregnancy most of these went away..but now 8 months later...they are back.
I have 10-15 days a month a mixture of symptoms, some mild..some severe. The mild - moderate are most days...with a severe diarrhea episode every 2 months or so. The episode lasts a typical evening...then the next day my belly is sore..but the diarrhea is gone.
My symptoms are on the mild days, some cramping...still cramping after a BM...
Typically I will have 2 BM's daily, on crampy days...I will have 4 BMs. Nothing terrible...just have to go more. I do take 1 tablespoon of fiber daily.
Some days I have what I can only explain as diaper rash...fine when you are a baby but very annoying when you are the mommy.
I have completed a blood test for allergies, celiac disease, chrons and collitis...all negative.
I think I have some food intolerances...but am not sure.
Should I worry I have something more than intolerances or would the tests given show if those illnesses were there?
Any help that could be offered would be great!
Thanks so much.

charlotte,
Sorry it has taken so long to answer you.
I don't know what type of fiber you are taking but if it's psyllium powder -- you should take it twice daily -- in the am and in the pm. It is a stool bulking agent and will make you have regular BMs w/o much straining and it will help control diarreha
The diarrha does not sound like an intolerance problem but it may a food that just upsets your digestion & BMs every 2 months or so -- Sometimes cantalope does it to me but it's not intolerance or else it would happen every time I eat it and it doesn't.
The cramping after a BM is almost always caused by a lack of magnesium in your diet. Lacking magnesium will cause cramping and spasms of any muscle in your body including your intestines as well as period cramping.
Many females suffer from menstrual cramps because of a shortage of magnesium -- It is in every cell of your body and 67% of it is in your bones.
It is needed to absorb calcium along with vitamin D to help prevent osteoporsis.
It is believed by some experts that 80% of people lack magnesium!!
An interesting fact is --- that 1 alcoholic drink will increase the magnesium in your urine 500% the next time that you have to urinate. Magnesium is not an easily mineral to retain and get in food even though it's available in many foods--- I make sure I get mine in a supplement.
And, few doctors ever test or do a blood screen for it. I have yet to get it tested for w/o asking.
I wish you well---Harry
