2 and a half years ago I was in Madrid and the weather was cold and hot around February. I started feeling that a cold was coming on to me but very slowly. 2 days later i was on the airplane and some people were sick. I felt worse and from that i received a strong cold. Lots of mucuous for a few days and dry coughing during the following nights. I also had a middle ear infection from that. No diarrhea. I didn't even stay in bed i went to work but i knew i had a cold. I was stupid enough to smoke a few cigarettes during this days/weeks. Now 2 years later i still have post nasal drip. It gets worse during winter and less worse during summer. I was at a doctors and he couldn't find a sinus infection nor allergies. Is this curable? what is it?
I had unprotected sex at that time and heard that Post nasal drip might also be related to HIV though i don't believe it since i didn't have other symptoms and i dont think a middle ear infection is related to that.

most PND is due to allergy as far as I know.. and it is curable by taking allergy meds... maybe u can ask for a nasal spray from your doc .. it sure helps me a lot.

ive suffered form chronic post nasal drip for years... doctors always used to tell me it was a sinus infecdtion and ghave me antibiotics which did absolutely nothing. so i stopped going and lived with it. now its just getting too much and causing me too many problems along with trying to del with other medical conditions. so today i went to the doc, he confirmed it was chronic post nasal drip and sent me for an xray. i tried t talk to him about allergies and digestive problems becasue i have bad digestive sympotms and im almost certain i have candida, which i know can cause sinus problems. but he didnt want to talk abnout that, he said wait for the xray/... he aslo thinks its probably due to pollution, he said there are clouds of it over certain areas of the country (im in the uk) and some people cant cope woith living in it. so he advised me to try and get away to the country for at least a week to see if it makes me any better. but i cant afford that and i also dont think that will help. im really want to go to one of those private clinics that do nutriton, allergies, acupuncture etc to talk to someone who knows about candida but he prices are rediclous. looks liek no cure for me!

Vasomotor Rhinittus.. an allergic response to pollutants and irritants.. smoke, ozone aare the big ones. If you still smoke stop.
GERD and LPR reflux disease that when active can flux into the sinuses during sleep or reclined states causing sinus and throat irritation and dripping.
I have LPR and VR as well as allergies.. top it of with tonsil stones and chronically infected tonsils.. overly active turbonide membranes.. and sleep apnea.. I got the wonderful sinus roto rooter treatment.
And now.. no chronic sinus/ear infections, no bronchittus or larynghittus(sp), no sinus headaches, no sore throats no PND.
My surgery is probably not for you, but the turbonide reduction portion can help. Bilateral turboplasty can be performed and reduce the amount of membrane in your maxillary and frontal (if the have a refined enough caurterization tool) sinus membranes as well. I had the bilateral turboplasty performed first before they did the full blown sinus restructuring and membrane reduction and removal.
The turboplasty basically fries a portion of the membranes present.. they like to do 30% then if more is needed another 30% which is about half of the origianl membranes quantity present. The membranes treated in this manner will systematically grow back and you will need the procedure repeated in 7-15 years depending on your bodies ability to heal and regenerate.
Well that is my 2 cents worth.
Sincerely,
MG

If the x-ray of Ct scan shows your sinuses are opaque then you have retained infected fluid in your sinuses.

i.e. A sinus infection.
