you should try skipping, or maybe cardio boxing.

I started listening to some high energy music during cardio and it made all the difference.

Yes, I definitely agree about music making a big difference. I always listen to some great Latin music (salsa or others) or hip hop or anything with nice rhythm and "dance" my way through cardio. It really makes the cardio time, if not fly, at least go by much faster and definitely more enjoyably for me.

If you find you can't stand doing your cardio, split it up. I do about 20-25 minutes of a hard run on the treadmill, than take a 5 min break or so and than go at it again. My gym has 5 tv's set up right in front of me and I get the music going, so I guess that's a good reason why I don't get bored... but come on after your run/swim don't u feel much better? Don't get lazy cuz u don't like it.... keep at it and it will start to feel less and less like **** .

My favorite: hoola hooping! Heh, I'm very good at it and I love it, you'd be surprised what a good workout you get from it! I guess it works the stomach muscles too, it's much like belly dancing.
I like jumping on a mini trampoline, too. It's also called a rebounder. Rebounding is considered by many people (especially boxers) as one of the most superior forms of exercise. NASA astronauts used rebounding to quickly build their strength back up after being in space without any gravity for long periods of time. 15 minutes of good jumping is equal to 30 minutes of jogging. It's the g-force that does it. And, of course, you can do various things on a trampoline besides just plain jumping. Plus, it stimulates every cell in the body, and works the lymphatic system and helps create stamina, it also works great on the leg muscles. There's something about jumping that just works the entire body, it's great, and it's certainly not as dangerous for your ankles or knees as running can be.
Also, regular jumping rope is considered one of the greatest forms of cardio, again many professional boxers will attest to that, though it can definitely be exhausting. And you have to be sure to wear good cross training shoes and not jump on concrete or you will hurt your knees.
Well those are my favorites, besides a few other things here and there. And walking. And I agree with everyone else, no matter what you do, ya gotta have some music for most exercises! Rock does it for me, especially Led Zeppelin, especially when hoola hooping hahah. http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/smile.gif

No, I find that strange. I can honestly say I always really enjoy my aerobic exercise, which comprises mostly exercycling by myself in the garage with the doors open for fresh air. I usually operate by counting turns rather than time and find that the counting, which becomes unconscious after a while, quietens the mind and helps get all the day's rubbish out of my thoughts almost like a meditation.
So I don't think music would be right for me because I use my exercises as a sort of mantra. I feel at one with the garden and the ambient quietness. The session is certainly not something to be "got through", put it that way.

You have some great ideas guys!
Any hoola hooping? Wow i didnt know that was considered cardio!
I think, if I try and vary a few different kinds of cardio workouts into my routine, I will probably enjoy it more. Instead of just RUNNING or WALKING alll the time.

dude how about raquetball or tennis? find a buddy and a court and go to town. 2 hours of cardio goes by really quick, unless you suck!

I know what you mean about Cardio being annoying... I sometimes get sick of running on a treadmill for long period of times.. but then again, I feel good about myself after a good run... So in the end, it's worth it. :D
I feel really bad about being so lazy about it too... Being that my boyfriend's Mom does 10 mile runs like nothing... and she also does two 1 hour spin classes... And mind you, she's 45!!! I don't know how she does it??!

I like those stair master things- not the movin stairs, but the little steps that fall and you have to "walk" onto the "next step"

I've said it before in a similar post, u have to circuit train to keep your mind stimulated instead of running on the same boring track like a gerbil for 25 minutes, do 5 different cardio exercises for 5 minutes each. this is of course if u do get bored, u don't HAVE to do this, it will just help.

I don't know if you can find enough on TV to tape - or rent some DVDs ("24" Seaons 1 and 2 are great!) and then I do a 45-min uphill (12%) fast walking workout on my treadmill. I burn about 400 calories, get all sweaty, and hardly even realize I'm working out - so long as I have something decent to watch while I'm doing it.
I'm not sure if this appeals to you, but I LOVE it :) I'd DIE without my treadmill/TV setup :)

I don't particularly enjoy it but what keeps me going is I document every workout. That seems to be a big incentive for me to look back months and years and compare records. Every once in a while I will break one and that really fires me up.
Another thing that keeps me going is how good I feel after the workout. If I feel like quitting I just think about that and keep on hammering.

Wow I am surprised this topic is still open lol
Well an update on my cardio workouts.....I have found something I like, being in the pool!
I am just trying to figure out exercises to do in the pool.
Lately I have been running for 15mins in the water, do you think thats a good start? And any other suggestions?
