i was given biaxin for my pnuemonia over a week ago... 2 pills a day with food. The pneumonia is going away but I still feel it in my left lung and the doctor said it takes 4-6 weeks to go away.

I read that if you get unusual bruising you should stop the drug and call the doctor right away.


On my right leg I have a vein or something that hurts and runs down my the side of my calf muscle and i can feel it protruding a bit. On my ankle it hurts like a bruise as well, but no discoloration... just its bruised brownish/yellow where this vein or whatever is sticking out.

Should I be concerned? I was lying down for a week after being very active at work, and the nurse said thats why my legs hurt.

Does this antibiotic mix with alcohol?

Does anyone have experience with this drug? should I stop taking it? I have only 2 days to go on it?

I think the bruises might just be a coincidence. Biaxin is pretty safe and the chances of those side effects are slim. It does NOT mix well with alcohol though - pretty much no drug out there does.
